Phone dialers

Phone dialers are automated calling systems designed to increase efficiency and save time in any outbound calling campaign, whether it's part of a high-volume call center or a small inside sales group. Common applications include: telemarketing, appointment reminder, political survey, automated product/service updates, emergency notifications, service follow-up, and collection services. Not all dialer programs are the same; predictive dialers, power dialers, auto dialers serve different functions.

An auto dialer (sometimes called an auto messenger) places automatic calls to a list of recipients and then plays a message to them. This phone dialer is typically used for collecting debts, appointment reminders, and finding sales leads. It can deliver messages to a large group of people without a phone agent. Auto dialer vendors include Stratasoft (Stratasoft.com) and Arcada Technologies (Arcada.com).

Predictive dialing automates the dialing process so call agents can spend more time talking to live prospects. In fact, a 2002 survey found that call center agents increased their actual talk time from 20 minutes per hour to 50 minutes per hour! Predictive dialing systems employ more phone lines than telemarketing agents. The system dials its list of numbers and transfers only live calls to agents. It's called predictive, since it uses complex algorithms to predict the calling rate that will best maximize agent talk time. Predictive dialer vendors include Digisoft (Digisoft.com), Arcada Technologies, and Amcat (Amcat.com).
