American blast fax

If the company name American Blast Fax sounds familiar, that's because they were a prime subject in anti-spam legislation and lawsuits targeting their fax blast campaigns. The Dallas Cowboys even paid $1.73 million in a class action lawsuit that claimed the team violated state and federal consumer protection laws when they hired a telemarketing company to send unsolicited advertising faxes to thousands of people. And that telemarketing company was none other than the Dallas-based American Blast company, who sent out a fax to 125,000 locations for the Cowboys.

The American Blast faxing company became a central figure in an important ruling in the U.S. Eight Circuit Court of Appeals in 2002. In essence, this ruling upheld a 1991 federal law against "junk faxes" and claimed this law did not violate the fax-sender's right to free speech.
